Eight pristine spring-fed pools formed by Mount Fuji's snowmelt
Oshino Hakkai consists of eight spring-fed ponds created by snowmelt from Mount Fuji, filtered through rock and soil over many years before naturally welling up to the surface.
The crystal-clear blue waters are mesmerizing, with visibility so good you can see straight to the bottom of the pools. Designated as a Japanese Natural Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage constituent asset, the site is particularly famous for "Wakuike," the largest of the eight ponds.
