The Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu, formally known as Kōtaijingū, truly stands in a class of its own. It is the pinnacle of Japan's shrines, dedicated to Amaterasu Ōmikami, and boasts a history spanning approximately 2,000 years.
Beyond the Main Shrine, the auxiliary shrines like Arasaisaisagu and Kazahiinomiya are also worth visiting. Arasaisaisagu in particular enshrines the fierce aspect of Amaterasu Ōmikami, making it the proper place to offer personal requests and prayers.
