Sekizenkan is Japan's oldest wooden hot spring inn, founded in 1694 during the Genroku era. Its striking red bridge and historic wooden architecture are said to be one of the inspirations for Spirited Away.
Sekizenkan has three buildings: the Main Hall, Mountain Lodge, and Kamatsu-tei. For an authentic historical experience, the Main Hall is recommended; for modern comfort, Kamatsu-tei is the better choice.
