Minami-Shimabara

Located in the southern part of the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture, Minamishimabara City is known for its Christian-related historical heritage. The ruins of Hara Castle, site of the Shimabara-Amakusa Rebellion, and the Arima Christian Heritage Museum preserve the history of Christian culture. The local specialty Shimabara hand-stretched somen noodles are also famous.
