Shimabara

A historic castle town located on the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture, known nationwide for the reconstructed Shimabara Castle and the Shimabara Rebellion of the Edo period. The city features abundant natural spring water sources throughout the area and is famous for its recovery from the Mount Unzen eruption disaster of the 1990s.
