Katori City in Chiba Prefecture is a historic town known for Katori Shrine, one of the most prestigious shrines in the Kanto region. The Sawara Historic Preservation District preserves Edo-period streetscapes, including the former residence of surveyor Ino Tadataka. The Sawara Grand Festival, held in summer and autumn, features magnificent floats parading through the town.
