Uchiko

Uchiko Town in Ehime Prefecture is a historic town that beautifully preserves streetscapes from the Edo to Meiji periods. The Yokaichi Gokoku townscape is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and Uchiko-za, built in 1916, continues to function as a traditional theater. The town also maintains the traditional craft of Japanese candle making.
