Located at the southernmost tip of Hokkaido, Matsumae Town is famous for Matsumae Castle, the only Japanese-style castle in the prefecture. Matsumae Park, where about 10,000 cherry trees bloom in spring, is one of Hokkaido's premier cherry blossom spots, and the local specialty Matsumae-zuke is renowned nationwide.
