Fukusaki

Fukusaki Town in central Hyogo Prefecture is the birthplace of Kunio Yanagita, known as the father of Japanese folklore studies. His birthplace is preserved as a historic site, and the town is famous for its specialty product 'mochimugi' (glutinous barley) used in noodles and sweets, as well as its mascot character Kawataro the kappa.
