Tatsugo

Tatsugo Town on Amami Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture is known as the place where Saigo Takamori lived during his exile. Visitors can explore the historical Saigo Nanshū Takkyokyo site and experience the rich subtropical nature at Amami Nature Observation Forest. The town is also famous for traditional Tatsugo-pattern Oshima Tsumugi silk.
