Yakushima

Yakushima Town is home to Yakushima Island, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The island features ancient Yakusugi cedar forests, including the famous Jomon Sugi tree that is thousands of years old, and mystical forests known as the inspiration for the animated film Princess Mononoke.
