Tōkai

Tokai Village in Ibaraki Prefecture is known as the center of Japan's nuclear research. It houses the Japan Atomic Energy Agency and features the Nuclear Science Museum where visitors can learn about nuclear energy. The village is also remembered as the site of the 1999 JCO criticality accident.
