Ujitawara

Ujitawara Town in southern Kyoto Prefecture is known as the birthplace of Japanese green tea. During the Edo period, tea master Nagatani Soen developed the sencha production method here, establishing the foundation of modern Japanese tea. You can learn about this history at Soen Koyuan Yantan.
