Itoigawa

Itoigawa City is located at the western end of Niigata Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan, and is nationally famous as a jade production area. It is designated as the Itoigawa UNESCO Global Geopark and offers valuable geological features including the western edge of the Fossa Magna. The area is also steeped in history with the ancient legend of Princess Nunakawa.
