A historic town in southwestern Nagano Prefecture that flourished as a post town along the Nakasendo highway. It preserves the atmosphere of old post towns like Yabuhara-juku and Fukushima-juku, and is blessed with pristine nature as the source region of the Kiso River. The area also serves as a gateway to Mount Kiso-Komagatake.
