Kunisaki

A city located on the Kunisaki Peninsula in northeastern Oita Prefecture, known for its unique Buddhist culture. The area features ancient temples such as Futago-ji and Monju Senji, along with numerous magaibutsu (stone Buddha carvings) carved directly into rock faces from the Heian to Kamakura periods.
