Nakatsu

Located in northern Oita Prefecture, Nakatsu City is known as the birthplace of Fukuzawa Yukichi, featuring historical sites such as Fukuzawa's former residence and Nakatsu Castle. The city is also famous as the birthplace of karaage fried chicken and offers natural attractions like Ao-no-domon tunnel in the scenic Yabakei area.
