Kasaoka City in southwestern Okayama Prefecture serves as the gateway to the Kasaoka Islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea. The city is home to horseshoe crabs, known as living fossils, which can be observed up close at the Horseshoe Crab Museum. Kasaoka Ramen, featuring a soy sauce-based broth, is a beloved local specialty.
