Shimoda

Shimoda City, located in the southern part of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, is a historic port town known as the site of Commodore Perry's arrival. The annual Black Ship Festival is held every May, allowing visitors to experience Japan's opening history. With Shimoda Onsen hot springs and the beautiful Shirahama Beach, it offers both historical and natural attractions.
