Tea fields featuring distinctive "tate-uremi" rows registered as a Japanese Heritage site

Located in Minamiyamashiro Village, a renowned producer of Uji tea, Tsurugi's tea fields are registered as a Japanese Heritage site as part of "A 800-Year Journey Through Japanese Tea History," and showcase a unique cultivation method called "tate-uremi" (vertical ridging).

This technique of creating ridges in a vertical direction along sloped terrain was ingeniously developed to improve water drainage and increase the efficiency of tea harvesting.

Lake Takayama Dam Park

Gravity arch dam on the Nabari River. Famous cherry blossom spot.

This gravity arch dam built on the Nabari River features striking curved lines along its structure. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom en masse along the lake shore, creating a stunning contrast with the dam. The surrounding area is also equipped with pleasant walking trails.
