Koka, Shiga

Koka City in Shiga Prefecture is nationally famous as the home of ninja culture. It is the birthplace of Koga-ryu ninjutsu and still preserves its rich ninja heritage today. The city is also renowned for Shigaraki pottery and contains historical sites including the ruins of Shigaraki Palace from the Nara period.
